Current Prevailing Visibility (greatest distance you can see for half or more of the horizon) ie 1/8 mile, 1 mile, 3 miles , 40 miles?

Transmit information inside on a computer and confirming observation is sent and received correctly.
Go back to observing current weather conditions.
The job is very low stress and observers work alone and often have a lot of time on their hands
(observations only done on the hour unless significant weather is occurring and generally it only takes a few minutes to perform a weather observation).
As long as staff are maintaining a continuous weather watch they can engage in other activities between observations
ie read , watch tv, use internet.ect (staff cannot of course sleep or leave the station between observations ie leave immediate airport property) and in fact during periods of no significant weather in fact need some means to keep busy or active.
Weather Observing
Introduction
Observing stations around the world continually observe various weather elements.
In addition while the equipment automatically reports Barometric Pressure, Wind Direction and Speed, and
Current Temperature Dew Point observers are trained on course how also to perform these items with out the equipment.
These observations, along with specific measurements of atmospheric conditions, are recorded each hour, 24 hours a day.
However, with adverse weather, it is often necessary to record conditions more frequently as up-to-the-minute
data is vital to areas such as aviation.
These detailed weather observations, taken at frequent intervals, form the backbone of all weather forecasts.
We must be able to accurately describe existing conditions before forecasters can hope to make reasonable predictions.
In this program you will learn how to observe, measure and record existing weather conditions in a variety of coded formats. In addition, you will learn the proper procedure to enter and transmit this information for national and international distribution. The data recorded by you in the field is used in the preparation of official publications and by both government and industry in the preparation of statistical analyses.
