Hi all,
My name is Marvin and I am offering guitar lessons to players of all ages & musical backgrounds. I picked up guitar roughly 10 years ago and have been writing & playing music across a variety of genres & styles ever since. I have also gigged in a variety of different settings, with my most technically challenging work being a guitarist for Broadway musicals renditions. Currently the majority of my playing has a heavy basis in jazz, neo-soul and indie despite my roots in rock music. I also am a classically trained pianist, playing around 15 years.
As part of my instruction I aim to understand the goals of each of my students rather than adopting a “one shoe fits all” approach. I strive to present the best path for each of my students when it comes to technique, tone & music theory. Despite my classical music background, I strongly believe in teaching music theory. However, my main intent is to present it in a way that is easily understandable & applicable rather than something lost within a textbook. From these points I am confident I can inspire people to continue their own musical journeys wherever it may take them :)
