Giving this a try. As challenging it is to live with Banjo, it is also very stressful to consider rehoming him.
There are multiple reasons I am considering rehoming Banjo. All of them are for the greatest good of both of us. At the moment, I feel like we are managing and making it work, but I would like for both of us to be thriving and living our best lives.
I am doing my best, but I feel he needs more than I can offer.
Banjo is a country dog at heart and needs to have a country home with plenty of space. He needs an experienced, dedicated, and patient human.
Below are the important basics. If you are interested in taking Banjo home, please PM me for more information. In your message, please tell me where you live, and what your experience is with dogs. I will be extremely selective about anyone interested in taking him and will only choose someone who checks as many boxes as possible for his benefit.
There is no adoption fee for Banjo, but I will ask you to sign an adoption agreement.
(Je parle aussi le français)
BANJO:
• Neutered Male, microchipped
• Walker hound mix
• 5yrs old (birthday – April 30,2020)
• 55 lbs
• Dog selective
• Some resource guarding
• No young children – experienced older kids/teens would be great
• Cats – probably not
• Other dogs – would be ideal with the right match
• Needs a lot of space to run and sniff around – ideally a country home with a lot of land.
• House trained; crate trained
I think he would be good in a home where he doesn't have to leave much as new situations get him very agitated and overstimulated. It would be best if he can get his energy needs met without having to go somewhere else to do it. He is good on walks, but regular walks are not enough, and his reactivity can cause issues.
He would do well in a home with another dog who loves to play, is confident and secure and not too dominant.
He might be okay in a home with a cat that can hold his own and/or loves to play. He currently lives with a cat. They tolerate each other mostly. He still wants to chase cats he sees outside. It would need to be a slow introduction with a lot of guidance.
Comes with
• Crate – if wanted
• Toys – Kongs, food ball
• Food, treats (Whatever i have left)
• Leashes, collars, head collar
• Life jacket
• Winter coat, boots for really cold days.
• Baby gate - if wanted
Banjo is such a good boy. He has a lot of energy and very big emotions. I hope we can find his best home.
