About Us
We run an apple orchard located in the beautiful countryside of Meaford, Ontario. With a team of up to 60 employees during peak harvest, we pride ourselves not only on the quality of our fruit but on creating a safe and respectful environment for our diverse workforce – including many temporary foreign workers who return each year.
We're looking for someone to take on a central administrative and coordination role that helps keep our farm running smoothly behind the scenes. This flexible, part-time position may suit a variety of people — whether you're transitioning from full-time work, semi-retired, or simply looking to contribute your experience in a meaningful way. We value maturity, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
Key Responsibilities
HR & Payroll
• Process weekly payroll for up to 60 employees using Sage software
• Maintain accurate employee records, certifications, and training documentation
• Assist temporary foreign workers with essential settlement tasks (e.g., health cards, banking, driver's licences)
Compliance & Safety
• Maintain documentation for national food safety certification programs
• Coordinate and document workplace safety initiatives (e.g., WSIB Excellence Program)
• Schedule health and safety training sessions and ensure certifications (first aid, pesticide use) are current
• Liaise with inspectors and agencies for housing and safety audits
Operations & Facilities Coordination
• Maintain vehicle and housing maintenance schedules and records
• Order supplies and manage relationships with vendors and contractors
• Create and update workplace policies and procedures as needed
Record Keeping & Reporting
• Assist with harvest yield tracking and reporting
• Maintain spreadsheets and records essential to orchard operations
• Prepare for audits and inspections as required
Ideal Candidate Profile
• Mature, reliable, and able to represent our business professionally to officials, inspectors, and community partners
• Strong attention to detail and exceptional follow-through on tasks
• A creative problem-solver who enjoys improving systems and processes
• Organized and able to track changing regulations and multiple deadlines
• Friendly, approachable, and genuinely enjoys working with people from all backgrounds
• Proficient in Excel and comfortable learning payroll systems (Sage experience is a plus but not required)
• Able to commute reliably to Meaford (within 30 minutes) for occasional unscheduled on-site needs
• Valid G driver's licence
• Flexible availability—more hours will be required during a few high-demand harvest or inspection periods
