Yard & Fleet Safety Inspector

Responsibilities:
Perform thorough weekly inspections on trucks and trailers to check for damage, wear-tear, and defects before they leave the yard.
Document and report any issues related to tires, lights, brakes, fluid levels, and overall truck condition.
Maintain an accurate inventory of supplies such as oil, coolant, washer fluid, and other maintenance items.
Refill required fluids (oil, coolant, DEF, washer fluid, etc.) in trucks as needed.
Ensure trucks and trailers are properly parked, secured, and ready for dispatch.
Teach and train newly hired drivers about effective handling of vehicles for low wear and tear.
Maintain yard cleanliness and organization, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Assist in basic maintenance tasks such as checking tire pressure.
Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule repairs and follow up on reported issues.
Keep detailed inspection logs and submit reports to the fleet manager.
Purchase truck/trailer parts from local suppliers as required
Follow all safety protocols and DOT regulations while working in the yard.

Qualifications:
Previous experience in truck yard maintenance, fleet inspection, or similar roles is preferred.
Strong understanding of truck and trailer systems including components like tires, brakes, lights, fluids, etc. is crucial.
Ability to identify mechanical issues and report them effectively.
Strong organizational skills to track supplies and maintenance needs.
Physically fit and able to lift/move objects as needed.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Must have a valid CDL with minimum 1 year of experience.
Familiarity with DOT regulations and safety standards is a plus.
