About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable, and proactive caregiver to support two 2-year-old boys with some medical needs in our home.
Both children are bright, determined, and active in their own ways. This role requires attentiveness, patience, and confidence in caring for toddlers with additional physical and medical needs.
Medical experience is preferred but not required for the right candidate willing to learn. Training will be provided for specific care tasks.
Knowledge and respect for Indigenous culture is a must. Experience providing trauma informed care is required.

About the Children
Child 1
• Has a G-tube (currently not in use; eats and drinks fully by mouth)
• Right below-knee amputee
• Crawls independently
• Climbs stairs
• Beginning to stand
• In the process of receiving a prosthesis
• Requires daily skin care for legs
• Has nasal stents
• Typically changed twice per week by parent
• Caregiver may be trained to replace if dislodged while parent is away

• Has Short Gut Syndrome
• Has a G-tube (currently not in use; eats and drinks fully by mouth)
• Diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy
• Beginning to take assisted steps
• Moves independently by scooting
• Requires daily physiotherapy exercises to support walking development

Developmental Notes
• Both boys are minimally verbal but are actively learning to speak
• They use some sign language
• They understand directions well (following them is sometimes negotiable — as expected for toddlers!)

Primary Responsibilities
Childcare & Medical Support
• Provide attentive, hands-on supervision at all times
• Assist with mobility and physical support as needed
• Complete daily skin care and physiotherapy exercises
• Monitor medical devices (G-tubes, nasal stents)
• Support speech and sign language development
Activities & Engagement
• Plan and lead age-appropriate activities
• Take children on outings (park, library, etc.)
• Car seats/stroller provided for transportation
• Open to creative ideas for enrichment
• Supplies for planned activities will be reimbursed
Household Responsibilities
• Cook simple meals for the children
• Clean up after meals and activities
• Dishes
• Vacuuming (as needed)

Pets in the Home
• Cats and dogs present
• No routine pet care required
• Must be comfortable around animals
• Let dogs outside occasionally
• Feed pets if working an overnight shift
• Monitor pets around children for safety

Ideal Candidate
• Experience with toddlers (medical experience an asset)
• Calm, patient, and physically able to assist with mobility support
• Comfortable learning medical-related tasks
-Criminal Record Check and Child Abuse Rehistry check from within 3 months
• CPR/First Aid certified (or willing to obtain)
• Reliable transportation preferred
• Comfortable in a home with pets
