Hi! I'm Jason, a University of Waterloo Honours Mathematics graduate and started tutoring in 2023.

My philosophy is to have strong fundamentals as everything is built on those fundamentals and allows for students to understand how to solve questions with variations, and questions that makes the student think, setting up for future success.

I also send the lesson in case the student wants to go back and review later.

I've also taught and coached full contact kickboxing, grappling, and karate!

Each student has their own learning styles that school may not speak to. I like to give multiple examples and perspectives to learn what each students' thinking processes are.

I believe maths is not as difficult as it seems, and aim to demystify it through engaging lessons and allowing students to try and connect concepts and ideas by themselves, aiding in the learning rather than telling the answers outright.
I also like to review old tests and go through answers to see what the common pitfalls are and to bridge the gap.

I believe a strong foundation is a primary driver of success, and I aim to let student really understand the subject on a deeper level. I reinforce this by connecting to earlier concepts and giving small mini quiz-like questions throughout the session that covers the typical range of variations for that question.

I use an interactive canvas, letting students answer, write, and draw on the same screen as me.


My rate is $30 per hour session
