For the past 30 years, I’ve had the great pleasure of raising miniature donkeys. I have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, so I think it’s time for me to say goodbye to my herd. Miniature donkeys are hardy, easy-keepers, and grow to no more than 36 inches tall. They can be trained to pull carts and be ridden by children up to 110 lbs. They make a very economical companion animal for a horse and other animals that are happier with a friend. They only require about 5 lbs of hay per day. They do not need grain and are better off without it for health reasons.
Each year, I raise between four and five young donkeys. This hobby pays for itself through the sale of the donkeys. All expenses are covered, with a small profit. I do it for the enjoyment, not for the money. I am selling five Jennies and one Jack. I expect this year‘s crop to start coming late July to mid-August. Over the last few years, I’ve been selling my young ones for $1500.Many are advertised for more. I am asking $6000 for the six adult donkeys. I would like them to stay together.
