Description
Mule Resophonic Guitars. https://www.muleresophonic.com/
Very rare… You won’t see very many of these around, especially not in Canada.
100% hand-built in Michigan, USA.
Matt (Mule company owner) makes sure every guitar is perfect before it goes out the door.
Currently a 9-month waiting list for one of these.
This guitar’s build number is #850.
Added the tri-cone, billet T-bridge, cutaway, mini-humbucker pick-up, figured ebony fretboard, and binding options… Basically whatever Mule offered as an option at the time… It was added.
Mules are known for their incredibly comfortable necks. They’re specially oiled… not lacquered. Made of quartersawn roasted maple. Pure perfection.
Headstock and tuning machines are… awesome. So well done. So solid. So vintage. One of my favorite parts of the guitar.
Stainless steel body… will never rust. Mule treats the steel to give it the patina you see in the pics… This will not change over time. It’s timeless.
I have all the factory pics of it being built along the way.
Original hardshell tweed case.
Original Mule certificate included (case candy).
I have 2 sets of extra strings I’ll throw in… Original strings are still on it.
This guitar is literally brand new… It’s maybe got an hour of playing time on it.
Bought it as I was collecting, but I’m now thinning the herd and focusing more on live acoustic performance and recording equipment.
Some comments from Matt at Mule:
“Use only DR Rare Strings phosphor bronze. 80/20s too bright… 12-54 or heavier (i.e. 12-56) if you can, but 11-50 is ok”.
“If someone strums with a pick, I recommend a single cone; you get more headroom and it’s a little bit warmer on the lower end. But 8 out of 10 people we make guitars for are going to play slide and fingerstyle and sometimes use a pick. If that’s you, get a tricone because it’s a little bit sweeter, the compression is balanced, and it serves both purposes pretty well”.
Check out this buyer’s guide video from Matt on Mule’s website. Very informative.

Also go onto YouTube if you’re not too familiar with Mule Guitars. There are plenty of owner’s videos to be seen and they all rave about their guitars. Most notable, check out Justin Johnston’s videos… Wow. This guy can play. Amazing tone.
Also on YouTube, check out Tony Polecastro and his channel. He’s a huge advocate for Mule guitars, owns several and has some really informative videos about them.
It’s a stunning instrument… Be the only guy (or gal) you know that owns one. It’ll never go out of style or lose its value if you take care of it.
To order this guitar today, it’s pushing $5k USD… Then you still need to pay for shipping, import duties, and 13% sales tax. It’s brutal. But I’ve already done all that for you, lol. Landed here, it’s about $7,500 – 8,000 CAD depending on the exchange rate. They’re worth it, but why pay that AND have to wait 9 months?
Asking $6,000. No tax, and you can own it now versus a 9-month wait. And it’s literally brand new. Not exaggerating whatsoever.
Smoke-free, pet-free home.
