We are seeking a female outdoor adventure partner for our 75-year-old mother living with Alzheimer’s in New Westminster. Our mom is a fit and joyful woman who loves being outdoors, but is struggling to stay safe in the community as her cognition declines. We would love for her to continue to be able to explore and hopefully find companionship that is meaningful to her allowing her to maintain independence.
Ideal Candidate:
Social, patient, and positive


Physically active and enjoys spending time outdoors


Comfortable engaging in conversation and providing companionship


A working verbal knowledge of an Eastern European language is a strong asset, Slovak is primarily spoken in the home
Excellent communicator


Responsibilities:
Provide companionship, stimulation and social engagement outside the home
Go for walks, have coffee, and enjoy light outdoor activities
Work 1–4 times per week for 2-4 hours per visit.
Morning hours are strongly preferred- flexibility between 8:30-12:30 is workable.
Support and maintain a safe environment while out in the community by managing potential risks and ensuring her well-being.
Communicate concerns and/or cognitive changes to family members as observed.
Compensation:
Based on experience; negotiable
