I have a beautiful Thoroughbred mare for sale (Iris is her name) who keeps getting put on the back burner. I'm realizing I just need to part with her so she can fulfill her potential.

Purchased in the fall of 2023 right off the track as a resale project, Iris was in a strong hunter program for all of 2024 before I got pregnant in the fall and she had 9 months off. Prior to her break she was wtc with changes, coming into frame, and cantering a small course.

In 2025 she was brought back slowly due to lack of time with a newborn. My 65 year old coach, who hadn’t ridden in a decade, actually brought her back for me before the baby, a testament to Iris’ character. Now, here I am bringing her back once more 2026 but I have another horse who’s my show horse and poor Iris is always getting cast aside. I don’t have an indoor arena so my horses have to have the winter off.

For an intermediate rider as she’s still green, she’s pretty level headed but can get excited sometimes. Generally pretty quiet though! She’s 6 years old, 15.3hh, currently wtc, needs help to balance at the canter, and is just starting over fences again. VERY light in the hand, frames up happily and nicely. Grey with 3 white socks. I pulled her shoes when I got her and she’s been barefoot ever since. UTD on vaccines and feet. Has had chiro and massage in the past with no issues. I’ve hacked her in a group as well with no issues.
