Role Description
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Stone CNC Machine Operator to join our production team.
In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machinery to cut, shape, contour, and polish high-end natural and engineered stone slabs (including granite, marble, quartz, and porcelain).
The ideal candidate combines technical machining expertise with a strong eye for craftsmanship to ensure every custom countertop, tabletop, and architectural feature meets our strict quality standards.
Machine Operation: Set up and operate 3-axis to 5-axis stone CNC machinery, bridge saws, or waterjet cutting tools to fabricate custom stone pieces.
Programming & Set-up: Interpret architectural blueprints, shop drawings, and CAD/DXF files. Input parameters, adjust tool path sequences, and calibrate machine offsets based on material thickness and type.
Material Handling: Safely load, position, and secure heavy stone slabs onto the CNC bed using overhead cranes, vacuum lifters, and forklifts.
In-Process Quality Control: Monitor the machine during operation to ensure correct cutting speeds, optimal water coolant flow, and minimal tool wear. Inspect the tool paths to prevent slab cracking or chipping.
Finishing & Inspection: Use micrometers, calipers, and templates to verify precision dimensions. Ensure finished edge profiles (bullnose, miter, bevel, etc.) meet a tight tolerance rate (e.g., 98% accuracy).
Routine Maintenance: Perform daily preventative maintenance on the CNC equipment, including cleaning stone dust buildup, lubricating moving parts, and managing water filtration/recycling systems.
Safety Compliance: Adhere strictly to safety standards regarding heavy lifting, silica dust mitigation, and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).


Qualifications
2–5 years of experience operating CNC machinery specifically within the stone fabrication, countertop, or architectural stone industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency reading and translating CAD files, technical shop drawings, and blueprints into machine dimensions.
Knowledge of stone industry software (e.g., Alphacam, Easystone) or specific stone CNC brands (e.g., Park Industries, Intermac, Breton) is highly desirable.
Material Knowledge: Strong understanding of how different materials (granite vs. marble vs. fragile porcelain) react to varying spindle speeds and tooling pressures.
Physical Demands: Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, stand for extended periods, and comfortably lift/maneuver heavy materials.
Certifications (Assets): Forklift license, overhead crane certification, or formal trade schooling.
