Zip is a registered 3/4 Arabian 1/4 Saddlebred (National Show Horse) tobiano paint 15 h.h. gelding foaled June 1999.

This video is of his first ride under saddle in 5 years (he was last rode for about an hour 1 year ago) and his first ride in an arena in 7 years. He is also with a new rider here, and is just 30 minutes off a 90 minute solo trailer ride from the home ranch. He was hand-walked around the arena for a few minutes prior to this ride (the arena is used for bomb-proofing clinics so there were lots of things in the corners including a plywood black bear silhouette - no freaking out, but he did look at the bear for a bit to figure it out). No lunging prior to this ride, just hop on and go.

Zip has been used as the go-to horse on the ranch for new riders who want to accompany a trail ride or when children stop by at the ranch and they want to go for a ride. He has lived his entire life on a working ranch, so is used to cattle, dogs, donkeys, wildlife, and heavy equipment. He will go over and through almost anything and has been ridden in open fields, roads, forest, and through swamps. He even was used to chase a bear off a trail once which he did without hesitation. Zip has been kept on pasture with the bulls or with two donkey Jennie’s. he respects fences and gets along with other animals (but will push calves and cows out of the food as he is a foodie, and likes to be the boss - he has never h rut another horse).

Zip requires no treatments or medication, he has never foundered (despite living on pasture), been unsound, or had heaves. He prefers hoof boots or shoes on his front feet if you ride him on gravel. Easy to catch (especially with food, he is a foodie,), ties well, trailers well, stands to be tacked up and to be mounted. He is for sale because he isn’t getting used much and our kids have outgrown him.
