Evening Support Staff (NW)
Description
We are looking for a evening support for a young man who lives with us in a supportive roommate setting. We are living in Highwood (NW) and are seeking someone to assist our roommate with his evening routine. Mon-Fri 4:30pm-9:30pm (2 fridays off per month, see below)
This Young man has a rare medical condition, and requires assistance with most tasks. He is very energetic, and has great use of his arms, but requires assistance with standing and walking. He is very sweet and affectionate and again, very energetic! In the evenings he likes to be taken on walks in his wheelchair, playing ball (bouncing a basketball back and forth) and cuddling up on the couch to be read stories.
He is in diapers, so he needs to be changed and he also needs help with bathing in the evenings. He has a stoma in his throat from a previous traech, we only have to keep it dry and clean. He also uses a gtube for medications and 2x per day formula feeds. He loves to eat orally, but spits out some of what he eats so we do a combined oral and feed method.
Evening shift tends to consist of hooking up the afternoon feed, going for a walk/playing, administering medication, having dinner, bathing and then settling him into bed. He requires help getting in and out of the tub, so some physical strength is important.
Note: we had to move into our unit quickly, so the ramp to get into the home we currently have is temporary. It is quite steep, but will be having a better ramp installed early august. Until then roommates are happy to assist getting client in and out of house.
Two fridays a month there will be no shift as he will go for out of home respite.
Family managed care, pays by etransfer 2x per month. Great family to work ive worked for them for 13years theyve never paid late, most staff have been with him 4 years. $21.40/hour
They do ask for proof of eligibility to work in canada and clear vulnerable sectors check. Thanks.
If youre interested please send your resume to shanlizlife@yahoo.com, thanks.
