Position: Extruder Operator, Quality Assurance and Food Safety Coordinator, Dry Batching Operator

Location: Rosthern, Saskatchewan

Position Description:
At Horizon Manufacturing, we produce the world's finest super-premium pet foods out of our advanced production facility in Rosthern, Saskatchewan (roughly 60 km north of Saskatoon). We are actively searching for multiple dynamic, highly motivated individuals who possess strong problem-solving skills and a meticulous eye for detail. The chosen candidates will join the dedicated team responsible for crafting food for our furry companions. While these positions come with significant responsibility, they are also exceptionally fulfilling. We are currently hiring for the roles detailed below.

Extrusion Responsibilities:
Cooking kibble to meet the standards
Working with QA to ensure all parameters are met
Visual and calculated inspections of the product
Electronic recording of run information
Cleaning of the department daily and full sanitation at the end of the production week

Quality Assurance and Food Safety Responsibilities:
On-site inspections
Monitoring of production/sanitation activities
Testing/inspection of kibble and incoming ingredients
Record, review and completion of assigned documentation
Bring forward and assisting in any concerns that directly affect the safety and quality of kibble

Dry Batching Operator Responsibilities:
Running the mill for the dry batches
Keeping track of inventory levels and using First in First out
Unloading bulk ingredients
Detailed record keeping of operations during the day and any deviations
Daily cleaning and end of week deep cleans

This is a Team position where communication and reliability are essential. A valid Class 5 drivers license and reliable transportation are required.

Experience and Education:
Experience in any of the below fields is an asset, but not a requirement:
Experience in manufacturing, especially consumer-packaged goods
Experience working with a food safety system like HACCP, FSSC 22000, ISO 22000
Working within a fast-paced environment
Mechanical aptitude and problem solving
Other previous training like: First Aid, Fall Protection, WHMIS, Confined Space, Forklift Operator Certificate

Skills:
Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely
A self starter, with excellent time management skills
Detail-oriented
Critical and/or systems thinker
Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
An unrelenting commitment to quality control and cleanliness
Have the ability to track and note production data
Technological proficient

Company:
Horizon Manufacturing Inc. produces Monday to Thursday, leaving Fridays for plant wide sanitation day. The scheduled shift is Monday to Friday, 7 am - 3 pm. Shifts may change or overtime may be required to meet production requirements.
