Job Title:
Personal Support Worker needed for Adult male with Autism and Mental Health Challenges.
Location: Moncton
Job Type: Full-time required in September and
Part-time/Casual for now.
Hourly Pay: $20/hour with an additional daily amount for gas.
About the Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and understanding individual to support a high-functioning 42-year-old male with autism and mental health challenges. The ideal candidate would be available to work FT weekdays starting Sept 8th, Mon-Thurs (usually 8-4 during the summer, and 7 or 7:30 - 4 or 5 during the winter) with the possibility of picking up an occasional overnight and/or a regular weekend shift if desired, every second week. For now, it would likely be for casual/part-time hours until then. You would be working in his home in Moncton alongside another caregiver, as he has 2:1 24/7 support, fostering a nurturing environment and assisting with daily living activities.
Responsibilities:
Assist with minimal personal care tasks (hygiene), household chores, and activities at home and in the community. He loves doing things such as going to the gym, for walks/drives, music, games, movies, animals (especially cats), and all sports.
Provide support at times with communication and social interaction.
Help maintain daily routines and structure.
Assist with meal preparation and good nutrition.
Engage in calming and recreational activities tailored to interests.
Provide companionship and emotional support.
Help ensure a safe and organized living environment.
Work with an amazing team of other support workers.
Qualifications:
Experience working with individuals with autism and mental health challenges preferred.
Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach.
Ability to help create a structured and supportive environment.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Background check required.
PSW certificate preferred.
First Aid and CPR if possible.
