St. David's Hydroponics Ltd. is large vegetable greenhouse producing bell peppers and eggplant. We are looking to fill 20 full-time positions starting January 2027 at our facility in Niagara on the Lake. Wage: minimum wage, $17.60 per hour. Work schedule: Monday - Saturday, 7:00am - 4:30 pm, 48-54 hrs per week depending on the amount of product harvested. Benefits: Full-time employees have the option of health benefits (medical, vision, dental). Languages: English. Experience: Will train. Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required. On site: Work must be completed at the physical location. There is no option to work remotely. Work setting: Rural area, no public bus transportation in the area. Must have your own reliable daily transportation. Work site environment: Dusty, dirty, hot, and humid. Job Duties: Farm work consisting of hand harvesting bell peppers/hot peppers, weeding, clean the crop (suckering, fruit pruning, twisting), divide fresh harvested produce into marketable lots and non-marketable lots. Grade fruits into different grades according to the size, shape, colour and volume to fetch high price in market. Crop changeover/removal (remove old crop/plants, removal of growbags, removal of irrigation lines, removal of floor covering, sweep/clean greenhouse, raking, disinfect). Prepare for new crop (replace ground cover, replace growbags, install irrigation lines, insert drippers, fill growbags, check if growbags held water, plant seedlings, cut drain holes in grow bags, hang and tie support string for plants, clip plants to string). Report signs of insect and pests. May operate tractor or other machinery and equipment to remove crop/plants/crop debris, clean/disinfect greenhouse and protect crop from environmental damage. Keep work areas clean/disinfected and adhere to all food safety and health and safety protocols. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast paced environment, attention to detail, repetitive tasks, physically demanding, good hand-eye co-ordination, ability to distinguish between colours, standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, kneeling, walking.
