Material Handling - Forklift Driver

Job Overview:
Coordinates inventory of stock; receives, sorts, logs, and distributes all incoming shipments. Identifies, locates, obtains and arranges for shipment of requested parts. Arranges warehousing and transportation of products to customers. May investigate and respond to inquiries regarding distribution and shipping. Back-up coverage for receiving, put-away, material handling and shipping.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
• Ensures that all safety regulations with regards to the safe operation of a lift truck (including pre-shift inspection) and safe handling of materials are adhered to.
• Stages and prepares shipments in accordance with shipping schedule and daily shipping instructions.
• Accurately labels and scans shipments using RF scanning devices
• Audits the condition of each shipment prior to loading. Ensures trucks are loaded properly. Verifies shipments prior departure of truck.
• Ensures all shipments leave on time with the necessary documentation.
• Assists in regular inventory audits as well as spot checks, as required.
• Back-up coverage for receiving, put-away, and material handling. Responsibilities include providing materials to the machine to maintain production service functions. Also, removal of finished goods to the staging area for put-away in the Warehouse; and handles receiving activities to ensure smooth operation of the plant.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor or management.
• Treats everyone with dignity, trust and respect.
• Ensures company safety policies are adhered to and safe work habits are utilized by all department personnel and visitors. Wears personal protective equipment as required at all times, including safety glasses, hearing protection, safety shoes, gloves, seat belts, etc.
• Follows the guidelines and rules as set out by the company policies.
Skills & Competencies:
• Grade 12 education or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years related experience
• Valid certification for counterbalance forklift AND reach truck required
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with a customer focused vision
Day shift (7:00am – 3:00pm) with immediate start.
The pay rate for this position will be $22.00 / hour
