Arabic is more than a language. The Qur’an is more than a text to recite. Islamic studies should offer more than conclusions to memorize.

I offer personalized lessons in Arabic, Qur’an, and Islamic Studies for children, teenagers, and adults at every stage, from complete beginners to advanced students.

Arabic lessons

Arabic instruction is tailored to each student’s goals and may include:

Formal and Standard Arabic: Qur’anic and Classical Arabic, as well as Modern Standard Arabic, with instruction in reading, writing, grammar, pronunciation, vocabulary, comprehension, and conversation.

Colloquial and Conversational Arabic: Egyptian Arabic and Syrian/Lebanese Arabic, commonly known as Levantine or Shami Arabic, with an emphasis on natural speech, listening, pronunciation, and everyday communication.


Students may focus on formal literacy, understanding the language of the Qur’an, conversational fluency, or a combination of these areas. Lessons can also explore the important differences between Classical Arabic, Modern Standard Arabic, and the various spoken dialects.

Qur’an and Islamic Studies

Lessons may include:

Qur’anic reading and pronunciation

Qur’anic vocabulary and language

Tafsir and the interpretation of religious texts

Hadith and Islamic thought

Islamic history and theology

Critical thinking and theological investigation


The objective is not merely to provide answers, but to help students read carefully, think critically, ask meaningful questions, compare interpretations, and understand how religious ideas are formed.

We may examine how language, historical context, scholarly methodology, and theological assumptions influence the interpretation of the Qur’an and Hadith. Lessons can remain introductory and age-appropriate or develop into deeper intellectual and theological discussions.

Every course is adapted to the student’s age, background, interests, learning style, and goals.

Experience

I have more than 30 years of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels. I have taught both groups and individual students through private tutoring.

I also worked as a journalist for more than 10 years and have written and published numerous novels in Arabic. Several of my works have been translated into English, with others currently being translated.

Rates and locations

Online lessons: $40 per hour
In-person lessons: $50 per hour in Aurora, Richmond Hill, and Newmarket

In-person lessons outside these areas may require an additional travel fee depending on the location.

Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication
Master’s Degree in Islamic and Theological Studies

All ages, backgrounds, stages, and levels are welcome. Lessons are available for individuals, siblings, families, and small groups.

لجميع الأعمار والمستويات

تعلّم العربية لا يقتصر على حفظ الكلمات والقواعد، وفهم القرآن لا يتوقف عند حسن التلاوة، والدراسات الإسلامية أوسع من تلقّي أجوبة جاهزة.

أقدّم دروساً خاصة ومرنة في اللغة العربية والقرآن الكريم والدراسات الإسلامية للأطفال واليافعين والبالغين، من المستوى المبتدئ حتى المتقدم، مع مراعاة أهداف كل طالب واهتماماته وطريقته في التعلّم.

اللغة العربية

يمكن للطالب اختيار المسار الذي يناسبه، أو الجمع بين أكثر من مسار:

العربية الفصحى:
العربية الفصحى المعاصرة والعربية القرآنية، مع التدريب على القراءة والكتابة والنطق السليم والقواعد والمفردات والفهم والتعبير والمحادثة.

العربية المحكية واللهجات:
المحادثة باللهجة المصرية أو باللهجة الشامية، ولا سيما السورية واللبنانية، مع التركيز على الفهم والاستماع والنطق الطبيعي والتواصل اليومي.

سواء كان هدفك تعلّم القراءة والكتابة، أو تحسين قدرتك على التحدث، أو فهم لغة القرآن، أو التمييز بين الفصحى واللهجات، يمكن إعداد برنامج يناسب مستواك واحتياجاتك.

القرآن الكريم والدراسات الإسلامية

تشمل الدروس، بحسب رغبة الطالب ومستواه:

قراءة القرآن وتحسين النطق

فهم المفردات والتراكيب القرآنية

التفسير ومناهج فهم النص الديني

الحديث النبوي والفكر الإسلامي

التاريخ الإسلامي والقضايا العقدية واللاهوتية

التفكير النقدي والبحث في اختلاف التأويلات الدينية


لا تقوم هذه الدروس على الحفظ والتلقين وحدهما، بل تهدف إلى تنمية القدرة على القراءة المتأنية، وطرح الأسئلة، وفهم السياق، والمقارنة بين الآراء، والتعرّف إلى الطرق المختلفة التي تشكّلت بها التفسيرات الدينية عبر التاريخ.

ويمكن أن تكون الدروس مبسطة ومناسبة للأطفال والمبتدئين، أو أكثر عمقاً للطلاب الراغبين في البحث الفكري واللغوي واللاهوتي.

الخبرة

لديّ خبرة تزيد على ثلاثين عاماً في التدريس، عملت خلالها مع طلاب من مختلف الأعمار والمستويات، ضمن مجموعات وفي دروس خاصة فردية.

كما عملت في الصحافة لأكثر من عشرة أعوام، وكتبت ونشرت عدداً من الروايات باللغة العربية. وقد تُرجم بعضها إلى الإنجليزية، فيما يجري العمل حالياً على ترجمة أعمال أخرى.
