Hiring Framers: Lead Hands, Journeymen & Apprentices
Company: J&L Carpentry
Location: Edmonton, AB and surrounding areas
Job Type: Full-time (40 hours/week overtime opportunities)
Pay Rate:
* Lead Hands / Journeyman Framers: $30.00 / hour (based on experience)
* Apprentices / Entry-Level Framers: $20.00 / hour (based on experience)
About the Role
J&L Carpentry is hiring skilled and motivated Framers to join our team for ongoing single-family and multiplex wood-frame construction projects in and around Edmonton. We offer steady, year-round work, competitive weekly hours, and formal apprenticeship sponsorship for crew members looking to advance their careers in the red seal trades.
Key Responsibilities
* Construct, erect, and install wood frameworks for single-family homes and multiplex developments.
* Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and framing layouts.
* Build walls, floor systems, roof trusses, and sheathing accurately to code.
* Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
* Lead Hands: Manage site setup, supervise apprentices, direct day-to-day workflow, and ensure quality control.
Requirements & Qualifications
* Experience: Experience framing residential or multi-family wood structures (required for Journeyman/Lead roles; entry-level applicants welcome to apply for apprenticeship tracks).
* Certifications: Valid Fall Protection certification is required.
* Tools: Personal hand tools (pouch, hammer, tape measure, speed square, utility knife, etc.).
* Transportation: Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (required to travel to various job sites in Edmonton and surrounding areas).
* Strong work ethic, reliability, and physical fitness for active outdoor job sites year-round.
