Looking for a dog that is more than just a pet? Meet the North American Mastiff — a powerful, intelligent, and loyal mastiff-type dog developed over many years to combine impressive size and strength with a stable, family-friendly temperament.
A UNIQUE MASTIFF TYPE
Developed by Percy Dailey and Desiree Coleman of Monsterpiece Kennel in Missouri over approximately 16 years, the North American Mastiff was developed using multiple mastiff and bulldog lines, including:
• South African Mastiff (Boerboel)
• French Mastiff (Dogue de Bordeaux)
• Italian Mastiff (Cane Corso)
• Neapolitan Mastiff
• Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog
…and additional lines.
WHAT TO EXPECT
• 24–30 inches at the shoulder
• Males: approximately 120–180 lbs
• Females: approximately 90–150 lbs
• Heavy bone and powerful build
• Broad head and impressive presence
• Surprisingly athletic for their size
• Short coats with possible merle, brindle, or piebald patterns

These dogs were developed with a focus on being gentle and trustworthy with their families and children, while still maintaining their natural protective instincts.
️ PROTECTIVE BY NATURE
North American Mastiffs are naturally protective of their families and property. They can have a deep, intimidating warning bark and a strong presence.
⚠️ IMPORTANT — THIS BREED ISN’T FOR EVERYONE
These are large, powerful dogs and responsible ownership is extremely important. They need early socialization, consistent training, structure, and an owner who understands large protective breeds.
They aren’t for everyone — but for the right family, they can be an absolutely incredible companion, protector, and lifelong family member. ❤️
