ARTIST ASSISTANT • WELDER

Soul Metal is a small studio creating handcrafted metal art and sculpture inspired by nature. Every piece is designed and built in our Millgrove studio, from one-of-a-kind commissions to production pieces.
We're looking for someone who enjoys hands-on, physically active work, likes variety, takes pride in quality craftsmanship, and wants to become part of a small creative business.

What You'll Do:
Cut, grind, shape and finish steel components
MIG weld sculptures, garden art and privacy screens
Work alongside the owner to build custom commissions and stock designs
Prepare pieces for finishing and packaging
Assist with shop organization and inventory
Help with installations and deliveries when required
Keep the studio clean, safe and organized

The Ideal Person:
Works independently and takes initiative
Enjoys building things and solving practical problems
Takes pride in producing high-quality work
Has an eye for composition and strong attention to detail
Is dependable and works well under pressure
Has a valid driver's licence and vehicle (we are not on a bus route)
Can safely lift/move materials up to 50 lbs
Is comfortable with physically demanding work throughout the day

Experience:
MIG welding
Cutting, grinding and finishing steel
Artistic or creative experience is an asset
