Spruce Home After Class Program (SHACP)
Location: Spruce Home, Saskatchewan
Position: Program Supervisor
Start Date: As soon as possible
Starting Wage: $23.00/hour, with wage open to discussion based on experience and qualifications
Current Term: As soon as possible to June 23, 2027, with the opportunity for ongoing annual renewal
Position Overview
The Spruce Home After Class Program (SHACP) is seeking a dependable, organized, caring, and enthusiastic Program Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day operation of our before- and after-school program located within Spruce Home School.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, can work independently, takes initiative, and is comfortable providing leadership and direction within a busy child-focused environment.
We are open to applicants interested in either the full before- and after-school schedule OR the afternoon shift only.
Hours of Work
The program operates Monday to Friday on school days.
Option 1 – Morning & Afternoon
7:15 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Option 2 – Afternoon Only
3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Additional paid hours are provided for approved duties outside regular program hours, including program planning and preparation, grocery and supply shopping, and other program-related responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
The Program Supervisor is responsible for the safe, effective, and welcoming day-to-day operation of
SHACP. Responsibilities include:
Providing safe, active supervision and care for children attending the program
Planning and facilitating fun, engaging, and age-appropriate activities
Creating a positive, inclusive, respectful, and welcoming environment
Overseeing daily program routines and operations
Providing direction and support to program staff and youth helpers
Coordinating snacks, groceries, program materials, and supplies
Maintaining required program documentation, including attendance and incident documentation
Communicating professionally with parents/caregivers, school staff, the SHACP Board, and other relevant individuals
Responding appropriately to children's individual needs, behaviours, and situations as they arise
Maintaining appropriate confidentiality and professional boundaries
Following SHACP policies, procedures, safety expectations, and Board direction
Working cooperatively and respectfully within the shared Spruce Home School environment
Ensuring program spaces, equipment, and materials are appropriately used, maintained, cleaned, and secured
Supporting the overall organization and smooth operation of the program
Qualifications & Skills
We are looking for someone who is:
Reliable, responsible, and able to work independently
Patient, positive, caring, and organized
Comfortable taking initiative and making appropriate day-to-day decisions
Confident providing leadership and direction to others
Able to communicate effectively and professionally with children, families, staff, school personnel, and the Board
Able to maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries
Flexible and able to respond calmly to changing situations
Genuinely interested in working with children and creating a positive experience for them
Previous experience in childcare, education, recreation, youth programming, or a related field is considered an asset.
Requirements
A Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
First Aid and CPR certification is considered an asset. If the successful applicant is not currently certified, SHACP will cover the cost of required First Aid/CPR training.
