If you’ve been shopping for a genuinely safe, forgiving horse on a budget, Marvin might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for.

Marvin is the kind of horse who is incredibly hard to find: safe enough for beginner riders under the guidance of an experienced coach, but with enough step and ability to be fun for a more advanced rider.

He is naturally a slower-moving horse who leans toward the hunters, with a lovely jump and a genuine love for jumping. He could happily continue in the hunter ring, but there’s no reason he couldn’t have fun in the jumpers as well.

Marvin has a large, adjustable step when an experienced rider asks for it, but he is equally happy to putter around quietly with a smaller, slower step for a beginner.

He is forgiving. Make a mistake? Marvin doesn't care. He will forgive rider errors over and over again and just keep doing his job.

He is also wonderfully consistent. You can leave him for weeks, get back on, and have the same horse you had before. He is the same horse at shows as he is at home, and he is remarkably sensible riding outside—even on windy days.

And then there’s Marvin's personality.

Marv is basically an overgrown pony trapped in a horse's body.

He'll cuddle with you, lick your face and convince you that you're his favorite person...and then try to drag you toward the nearest patch of grass.

He'll be incredibly sweet...and then pin his ears when you get too close to his grain bin.

He is a comedian, a character, and absolutely chock-full of personality.

Why is he priced so reasonably?

Marvin is currently being offered well below what we believe his market value would otherwise be for a horse with his temperament, safety and ability.

There are a couple of reasons.

First, Marvin currently makes an unusual/funny noise when he breathes. He has been evaluated by two different veterinarians, and both have told us they expect the noise to improve/go away with exercise.

Second, Marvin is currently approximately 95% sound due to a small issue that is nearly resolved. We are happy to be completely transparent with serious buyers about his history and where he is currently at.

And finally, we are exceptionally busy and genuinely need to reduce our workload, so Marvin has been priced to find the right home rather than sitting here waiting for us to have more time.

For someone shopping on a budget who values SAFE, forgiving and sane, Marvin represents a pretty special opportunity.
