Part-time Evening Cleaner wanted at smartduds.ca Dry Cleaning & Laundry Services, 352 Brock St S, Unit 11, Whitby.

The hours: Friday and Saturday nights, 8:00 PM to midnight. Both nights, every week. About 8 hours a week.
The pay: $19.00 an hour, through payroll every two weeks, with a pay stub and a T4. No cash.

The job is cleaning a busy self-serve laundromat after the day is done. We have 65 commercial washers, dryers and vending machines, and every one of them gets cleaned inside and out. It is detailed, physical work, and you do it alone from a written checklist.

A typical shift:
- Scrub inside the washers: drums, door glass, rubber door seals and soap dispensers
- Vacuum out the dryer vents and clean the dryer glass, fronts and rims
- Get down on your knees to clean the machine bases, between the machines and into the corners
- Wipe down every stainless machine top and front, the folding tables, the counters, the coin changer, the kiosk and the vending machine
- Wash the front windows inside and out, and dust the ledges, signs, TVs and fans
- Clean the bathroom completely and restock it
- Sweep and mop the entire store
- Empty every garbage can and carry the bags to the curb

You are on your feet for four hours, bending, kneeling and crouching, working in tight spaces with brushes, cloths and a vacuum hose. If that is not for you, please do not apply.

What we need from you:
- You can work BOTH Friday and Saturday nights, every week
- You live within about 30 minutes of Whitby
- You wear closed-toe, non-slip shoes, and you keep your nails short or wear gloves for the whole shift
- No headphones or earbuds while working, so you can hear the machines and the customers
- You can read the checklist and the safety labels on the cleaning chemicals, and speak with customers and 911, in English, because you work alone
- You have paid experience in cleaning, janitorial, housekeeping or other physical work, and a reference we can call
- If you are on a study permit, it must allow off-campus work

This is steady work that suits someone with years of physical work behind them who still has the energy for it. Applicants of every age are welcome, including people who are retired or semi-retired.

Everyone we shortlist works one paid trial shift alongside one of our cleaners before the job is offered.
