General Farm Labourer – Apple Orchard

Oxbow Orchards Ltd. is seeking reliable, hardworking individuals to join our team for the 2027 apple-growing season. This is a seasonal, full-time position on a working apple orchard in a rural setting. No previous farm experience is required, as training will be provided.

Wage: Minimum wage, in accordance with applicable Nova Scotia employment standards and LMIA requirements
Education: No degree, certificate, or diploma required
Experience: No experience necessary; on-the-job training provided
Language: English
Work Arrangement: On-site only; no remote work

Job Responsibilities
- Pick and harvest apples and other orchard crops as required.
- Plant, cultivate, and irrigate crops.
- Assist with pruning and training apple trees to improve fruit quality and production.
- Assist with fertilizing and spraying crops as directed and in accordance with farm safety procedures.
- Sort freshly harvested apples into marketable and non-marketable lots.
- Operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment, and tools when trained and authorized.
- Perform general orchard and farm maintenance.
- Assist with preparing planting areas and maintaining orchard grounds.
- Remove weeds, clear debris, and keep work areas clean and organized.
- Assist with recording harvested quantities and maintaining daily harvest or inventory reports as required.
- Perform other general farm duties as assigned.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work in a rural agricultural environment.
- Perform physically demanding and repetitive tasks in a fast-paced seasonal environment.
- Stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, and reach for extended periods.
- Lift and carry items weighing up to 23 kg (50 lbs).
- Follow instructions and farm safety procedures and work independently or as part of a team.
