Junior Chef Academy: an 8-week evening cooking course for kids 8–13 in Kanata.

Wednesdays, 5:30–7:30 PM, October 21 – December 16 (no class on November 11). 8 classes, 16 hours in total.

The same small group of up to 10 kids cooks together every week with a lead coach and an assistant. Each class builds on the last one:
• Week 1: safety, knife skills and vegetables (ratatouille, chopped salad, homemade vinaigrette)
• Week 2: egg cookery and heat control (French-style omelette, mini shakshuka)
• Week 3: fresh pasta from scratch with Parmesan sauce
• Week 4: shortcrust pastry and custard (fruit tartlets, butter cookies, vanilla pastry cream)
• Week 5: ground meat and safe temperatures (Italian meatballs, mashed potatoes)
• Week 6: yeast dough (mini focaccia, garlic knots, herb butter)
• Week 7: choux pastry and chocolate (profiteroles, mini éclairs, ganache)
• Week 8: graduation cooking challenge. Kids plan, cook and plate a full meal and receive a named certificate and their Chef Passport.

All ingredients, equipment and an apron are included. Beginners are welcome: week 1 starts with knife safety and kitchen basics. Parents drop off and pick up. We review allergies with you before confirming the spot.

Tuition: $680 HST for the full course, or two payments of $340 HST.

Limited to 10 kids per group, only a few spots left.
