Experienced Winch Truck Operator Wanted – Join Our Team!

Thatchwood Ventures Ltd. is looking for an experienced and dependable Class 1 Winch Truck / Lowbed Operator to join our growing transportation team in Grande Prairie, Alberta.

As a locally owned and operated company with deep roots in the Peace Region, we specialize in oilfield transportation, heavy equipment hauling, and environmental services throughout Alberta and British Columbia.

We’re looking for a skilled operator who takes pride in their equipment, works safely and independently, and is comfortable handling a variety of hauling assignments.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate winch trucks, lowbed trailers, and equipment hauling configurations.
* Safely load, unload, secure, and transport heavy equipment, including oilfield and construction equipment.
* Perform winching operations, equipment positioning, and recovery-related work as required.
* Haul equipment, machinery, and materials using flat decks, step decks, and other trailer configurations.
* Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections, electronic logbooks, and required documentation.
* Ensure compliance with load securement, weights, dimensions, and transportation regulations.
* Maintain a high standard of safety, professionalism, and equipment care.

Qualifications & Requirements

* Valid Class 1 driver’s licence.
* Previous winch truck operating experience is mandatory.
* Minimum 3 years of commercial Class 1 driving experience.
* Experience operating lowbeds, loading heavy equipment, and hauling over-dimensional loads is a strong asset.
* Strong knowledge of load securement and safe equipment handling.
* Valid First Aid, H2S Alive, and CSO certifications preferred.
* Mechanically inclined with a strong commitment to equipment maintenance and safety.
* Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently.
* Must reside in or near Grande Prairie, Alberta (accommodations are not provided).
