Position: Waste Removal Services (Truck Driver/Labourer): for a full-­‐time
A­‐PLUS Garbage Removal is seeking a reliable and qualified individual to join our team and support the day-­‐to-­‐day collection and transportation of residential and commercial waste, organic and recycling materials throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality to the appropriate disposal sites. The manual collection, removal and sorting of waste will be required as part of the position, and as such the position may include physical exertion, such as heavy lifting, pushing and pulling. Start date is November 16, 2026
Position Requirements and Responsibilities
• Must possess a valid Nova Scotia driver’s licence and provide a current driving record from the Registry of Motor Vehicles (driver abstract);
• Responsible for safe and efficient operations, and as such must be reliable, punctual and have strong motor vehicle skills;
• Must be able to perform the physical requirements of this position, including but not limited to: o The heavy lifting, pushing and pulling of receptacles and other waste removal materials in a safe and efficient manner;
o Repeatedly mounting and dismounting trucks throughout shifts;
o Repeatedly crouching, bending, standing and sitting throughout shifts; and, o Working in all weather conditions.
• Must comply with all local and provincial transportation regulations and adhere to company health and safety policies, including performing daily pre and post trip truck inspections and other safety and maintenance checks, including truck care and cleaning, as required;
• Must remain courteous in all work situations and communicate professionally with customers and fellow employees at all times;
• Must be willing to work six days a week (Monday-­‐ Saturday), including holidays and overtime hours as required, depending on the volume of work and available resources;
• While day-­‐to-­‐day route requirements will be standard, the qualified candidate must be familiar with the Halifax area in order to support contracted work, as required;
• Will be required to complete daily driver logs, track hours, and remain accountable for day-­‐to-­‐ day route requirements, noting any deviations that may arise;
• Prior driving experience is required;
• The candidate must possess the proper safety gear, including steel toed boots; and, • The candidate must have a reliable form of transportation to and from the workplace.
● Must work in all weather conditions and available to work 6 days a week and start early in the morning
