Fast Food Cook/Kitchen Helper
West Indian take-out restaurant is seeking mature, high-energy multi-taskers who enjoy preparing and
working with food. The ideal candidate has experience cooking West Indian dishes or has a keen desire
to learn. Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is a must. Preference given to
local candidates who have finished their schooling and are looking for permanent restaurant work.
REQUIRED AVAILABILITY
You must be able to work every day from Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, with flexibility
to work additional hours, if required.
MAIN DUTIES
In the kitchen: Assist with food preparation and light cooking according to specified recipes and
techniques
 Use a variety of kitchen equipment such as dough sheeter, flat stove, digital combi oven, deep fryer,
potato peeler, mandolin, weigh scale
 Organize and store food items properly to ensure freshness and compliance with food safety
regulations
 Maintain cleanliness - dishwashing, wiping down work surfaces, trash removal, sweeping
 Perform inventory checks - ensure there is sufficient quantity of ingredients at all times; inform
manager when quantities start getting low
 Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
Support the team to ensure smooth and efficient customer service:
 Prepare, assemble and bag food orders
 Cook meats on live fire wood grill on an as-ordered basis; restart fire when it dies out
 Ensure there is sufficient quantity of food items and packaging supplies at all times; inform manager
when quantities start to get low
 Maintain cleanliness on work surfaces and floor
 Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards
QUALIFICATIONS
 excellent oral and written English
 back of house experience
 experience assembling food orders for take-out
 up-to-date food handler certificate

 able to lift, move and carry items up to 50 lbs., including up and down a flight of stairs
