HDD Locator/Driller and Laborers

RJ Strategic Contracting Ltd is a family owned & operated horizontal directional drilling company. We work in the shallow utility and telecommunication industries in the Calgary area. A probation period will apply for the first 3 months of employment!
We have year around work in the Calgary area.

Skills and Qualifications
Driller/Locator with minimum 2 years of experience supporting utility maintenance and construction. Your experience supporting utility maintenance and construction enables you to safely and efficiently complete utility construction and maintenance projects in the Calgary area.
• Mechanically inclined Horizontal Directional Driller locator experienced with Falcon F5's and Vermeer Drills
• Experience operating Vermeer Drills
• No previous utility strikes
• Shallow utilities experience
• Telecommunication network installations
• Safety conscious
• Adaptable/ problem solver
• Arrives to each shift ready to work with a good attitude, ambition and professionalism
• Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures (must have ground disturbance ticket)
• Valid driver's license Class 5 or Class 1 and 3 is a benefit, preference to drivers with clean drivers abstract. Must have a driver's license
Duties and Responsibilities Driller/Locator
• Team leader, who will participate in all tasks required alongside the crew, setting an example of work ethic and solidarity.
• Encourages the crew to be independent workers, mentoring them for success on the work site.
• Sets a strong production pace, relative to the infield safety rhythm.
• Performs daily preventative maintenance and post shift repair work when required.
• Mechanically inclined Horizontal Directional Driller/Locator
• 2 years of drilling or locating experience preferred, no previous utility strikes.
• Safety conscious attitude is critical
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Adaptable/problem solver.
• Punctual with a strong work ethic
• Installation experience of gas, power or telecom.
• Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures.
• Trailer towing and securement an asset
• Read utility locates and coordinate accordingly, permits and locates are in hand.
• Setup work site including pedestrian control and traffic.
• Willing to work in all weather environments.
• Move/lift material weighing 50 pounds'
• Level of experience will be a determining factor in wage.

Laborers Positions
• Laborers will be assigned a variety of different tasks though out our operations.
• Laborers with experience in construction, utility locating, telecommunications installations, landscaping, oil and gas, hydro vac, shallow utilities, pipeline, concrete work, running power tools, shop hands, mechanically inclined, equipment operators etc.
• Ready to take compulsory company safety courses including but not limited to First Aid, Ground Disturbance, - before beginning work.
• Arrives to each shift ready to work with a good attitude
• Valid driver's license REQUIRED Class 5, class 1 and 3 is of benefit, preference to drivers with clean drivers abstract
• Trailer towing and securement an asset
• Knowledge of ground disturbance procedures
• Punctual with a strong work ethic
• Setup work site including pedestrian control and traffic.
• Pull conduits and run fiber cables
• Cut conduits, plastic pipe stick and fiber cables
• Back fill and remediate drill entry and exit points
• Load and unload tools and supplies at each work site
• Clean and pick up tools and supplies from each work site
• Clean equipment and shop
• Willing to work in different weather environments
• Move/lift material weighing 50 pounds
• Level of experience will be a determining factor in wage
· Must have vehicle and be able to commute to work each day

Schedule:
• 8-10-hour shift daily shift 7:30 to 3:30
• Day shift
• Monday to Friday
• Weekend availability as required

Experience:
• Driller/Locator: 2 years (required)
• Falcon F5 locator: 2 years (required)
• Vermeer Drills: 2 years experience minimum

• Laborers 6 months to 2 years with experience in construction, utility locating, general maintenance duties, telecommunications installations, landscaping, oil and gas, hydro vac, shallow utilities, concrete work, pipeline, running power tools, shop hands, mechanically inclined, equipment operators etc.
